So this is my guy that cannot have lights cause he goes temporarily blind. He has not went blind again since I took away the lights..now that I have that fixed I have a question? Does anyone know if he is a Tremper or Rainwater? I noticed some stuck shed on his eye lid while taking pictures... it was a pain in the hind end to get off, but I got :)

I would lean toward Tremper just because it's more common but I'm terrible at telling from eye pictures. They just don't look that different to me :/

I'm not totally sure about adult geckos but the eyes do have something to do with incubation temperature. My Trempers that were incubated for female hatched with almost solid black eyes and their eyes are getting the lighter albino look more and more as they grow and shed.

I think in theory the eyes of rainwaters are a darker color, and the veins can look almost black. However, while their eyes are darker, I'm not sure i really see what i think I'm supposed to in my rainwaters, so I'm a bit confused about it all. Here's a couple pics of their eyes for comparison...all three are rainwaters, normal, full eclipse and partial snake eye eclipse. I threw a picture of my Tremper male's eye in there last for comparison.

The dark color of your albino's markings may indicate that he was incubated or kept at the lower end of the acceptable temperature range for the first few weeks of his life. this isn't necessarily a bad thing - some people (myself included!!!) like the dark "chocolate" markings this influence encourages. I would assume the same temperature that affected the pigmentation of his markings could affect the pigmentation in his eyes.

IMO the difficulty of knowing which albino a gecko is when all these factors compound identification is why it's a good idea not to breed albinos that have questionable backgrounds unless there is a super good reason for it.

yeah, that could be a reason. And this is why I do not breed my geckos, because I have no idea about genetics or even my geckos genetics. I just love to have them cause they are such awesome creatures. When I first got my females and one of my males from some one they had one that was already gravid when I got them (my high yellow) I was gonna try to incubate them out of a make shift incubator and just give the babies away to friends, but they didn't make it. But my males are separated from my females for this reason, I dont know about their back grounds OR about leopard gecko genetics in general. I just think they are fascinating. same reason why I have a bearded dragon, 2 ball pythons, and a Veiled Chameleon as pets only...lol I love my reptiles :)

here are some pictures of Stimpy that I took last night... He is the fattest gecko I have...and oh buddies he is a fatty...lol I love him. He was the second one that I ever got. Very sweet guy :) And thank you. I want more, but you should see my house. I litterally dont have anywhere to put anymore tanks. I have them all over the place!! I am hoping that next year or the year after we can stop renting and buy a house, then I shall have my own reptile room...oh yes I shall! lol

Michelle, I got this guy (and most of my other geckos) from a popular pet store chain that ends with the word "Smart" so there for they dont really know what they are. I just say "Hey thats a gorgeous gecko! Im gonna take him home!" then I come post it on here trying to figure out what they are...lolI have asked the store employees before if they know what they are and the only one they were able to tell me was that my blazing blizzard came in labled blazzing blizzard, but I still posted him on here trying to confirm it. :)
