Tub recommendation

I am thinking of building my own rack. It would house leopard geckos and corn snakes. What type of tubs do you guys recommend?

I personally like: http://www.containerstore.com/shop/...54&green=FF442FE3-9060-5496-05D3-8C3D8E8066C0

They are nice and clear, pre-drilled and yes a bit on the expensive side. The problem is finding a comparable sweater box for the corn snakes that are close enough in the dimensions to make 1 rack that houses both.

So what do you guys recommend? Is there a brand that is easily interchangeable??

I've used those boxes before and while they're very clear, they also crack easily. I would recommend buying whatever is on sale at Target or Walmart and designing your rack around them. The sterilite clearview Latches are nice, and if you want to make a lidless system (highly recommended) the latching part pops off pretty easy.

I use Iris tubs exclusively, and will not use anything else. They are more transparent than Rubbermaid or Sterlite, have more vertical sides so horizontal rack space is not wasted, do not have grooves around the bottom where feces and other debris can get stuck, and have "L" shaped stand-off feet at each corner so the tub does not sit directly on the heat surface.

GGG, what's wrong with the tubs sitting directly on the heat tape? I like it better because I don't have to set my thermostat higher to get the temps right.

I personally use 6 quarts for babies, 16qts for juveniles, and 28qts for adults. I house all individually. I just feel like adults are crammed in a 16qt but thats because i put a few extra accessories in there then most people and my collection is much smaller than most.

Thanks Marcia. I will definitely look into it!

Heat tape and UTH's need air flow so it doesn't overheat and cause a melt-down. The stand-offs on the bottom of the tubs are only about 1/8". The probe for your temperature controller should be on the surface of the tub anyway... not the surface of the heat tape.
