Her is the thing, when i got my male gecko he did not want to eat. But he apparently eat the crickets that were running around his cage. So he is fine. But a wile a go my Female Gecko stopped eating, and she still is not eating. This is worrying me because she is less then a year old, and her tail is getting thinner.

What should i do. I did almost every thing i could. The warmth mat is about 30* Celsius. She has two hides, a big enough cage. (Wat do breeders do wen their gecko's refuses to eat?)

There are many things you can do, get a stool sample checked at the vets immediately, maybe switch to a little tub of mealworms in the viv instead of crickets, or try locusts, keep trying to feed her waxworms, only 2 or 3 on the weekends, they are very fatty so will keep her weight at a steady level if she takes them while you can find a suitable feeder for her and see if she has any parasites.
You could also try making a paste for her, I am not quite 100% on the recipe so another breeder on here might be able to help you.
This paste you just dab on their nose so they lick it off, eventually it should wean them onto mealworms.

Thank you, actually i feed them meal worms. Only the male has crickets, and meal worms in his cage. Ill be sure try the wax worms if they have them the local pet store.

Do you mean the recipe from golden gate gecko's?

Erm im not sure where I saw the recipe before, its basically calcium powder, some d3 and mealworms mushed together however i believe there are some other elements you put in.
But yeas try waxworms or butterworms, butterworms have a higher calcium content (around 53% i think) but both will keep the weight up, however don't feed them more then 3 or 4 on the weekends or they will become addicted to them and become little fatties.

Yes the golden gate slurry recipe will work for animals that will not eat on their own. I've used it a few times and it usually gets them into feeding mode or at least makes it so they can give you a fecal to bring to the vet. But you should get any animal that comes into your care a check up IMO. Just like you would a puppy or kitten. I hope she bounces back and it's nothing serious. :)

:main_thumbsup:This recipe was developed to provide anorexic carnivorous and insectivorous geckos with life sustaining nutrition while they convalescing, and to help produce a stool for a veterinary fecal test. It is NOT medicine, and it will NOT cure anything.

In a blender, combine:

1 small can Hill's A/D pet food (available at most vets)
¼ cup Ensure (not chocolate)
1 jar baby food squash or pumpkin
¼ cup Pedialite
*2 tabs or contents of 2 capsules milk thistle (herbal supplement, liver purifier, found at most drug stores).
*2 tabs or contents of 2 capsules of Acidophilus (GI system probiotic, found at most drug stores).
1 tsp. calcium powder w/Vitamin D3
1/2 tsp. herp vitamin powder
2-4 X-large handful of mealworms, added slowly while mixture is blending until it is about the consistency of a milkshake.

*optional ingredients

Puree all ingredients until completely smooth. Pour into ice cube tray(s) and freeze. Store cubes in zip-lock bag in the freezer until ready to use, then thaw out 1 cube at a time and store in fridge for 2-3 days. You can use the empty baby food jar for this purpose, washing it thoroughly after each use.

Using this mixture, draw a full 1ml dropper (eye dropper type) and place a drop on the gecko's nose, being careful not to plug the nostrils. Be patient and do not force-feed! The gecko will lick it of its nose, and as it does, slowly squeeze out a little at a time. Most geckos love this food, and will lap it up.

~ NEVER tell anyone you put mealworms in the blender! ~

This is the golden gate slurry mix :main_thumbsup:

It is possible that your female is ovulating. I have females who will go off food for months until they stop ovulating. After that, they eat like normal and gain all the weight back.

Good luck!
