Hello! Ive been on here a while but I've been really inactive. I rescued my leo who was 9 months at the time from some horrible owners who didnt take care of her and she has a couple lost toes and had mbd really bad (now recovered and pretty much walks normal).

I've had her for about 6 months so that makes her approx. a year and a couple months old. She's housed in a 20 long with lots of hides. Would two leos (the other being the same size and female) do good in a twenty long? Or do they fight? I see people on here who house two together, but also hear that they can fight alot with them being solitary lizards?

Input? Im only asking because someone is giving away a leo and once again, I want to rescue it lol but dont want a whole 'nother cage.

On another note, my leo used to eat about 6-8 super worms a week, has a fat tail, stool normal, ect. But, the past two months only eats about 2-3 super worms a week. She has a fat tail and hasnt lost any weight, stool is normal, acting normal, ect. Do they slow down this time of year? Her temps are constant because her heat pad is on a thermastat.

If you are not willing to have another tank than taking in another gecko is a bad idea. You must quarantine the new gecko for at least 90 days. If they end up not getting along you will need to seperate them anyway in which will require another tank.

some people have good luck housing female leopard geckos together but i am not one of them. from all of my experience (7 leopard geckos) its best to house them individually because bullying (even between females) is pretty common. a tank divider is always an option. not many people can stop after one leopard gecko, theyre very addicting!

yes, they do tend to slow down during this time of year. it sounds like you have the right ideas though... making sure the stool is normal and maintaing a constant weight. a scale is a good idea. also, your gecko may have been on an eating binge because of the poor treatment it had from its previous owner. i got a malnourished gecko that ate constantly for about a month before it slowed down to a more normal eating schedule.

1) you would need to quarantine any new geckos for at least 90 days so you would need another tank to begin with.

2) sometimes females are ok to house together and sometimes they are not. It all depends on the geckos. If they did have issues you would need to have a way to seperate them so you would still need to have another tank.

I know thats probably not what you want to hear. Petco has sales on their tanks throughout the year or look on craigslist for tanks cheap if you are set on having another gecko. They are addicting!

I have a ten gallon quaratine tank, I just meant in the long haul if it was possible for them to go together. I have a lot of reptiles so I know the quarantine rule, I was just curious to see how successful it was or not. Apparantly its not, though, which is the answer I was looking for. Thanks everyone.

My boyfriend and I keep our two females in the same tank and they get along quite well! Like sunshinegeckos mentioned above, it all depends on the geckos!

Most of my geckos all have roommates, and I have never had any issues with bullying. In fact, Clare always goes to get Joker whenever I give them worms, because Joker likes to hide in the very back of her hides and doesn't always see when food comes. Clare is about 10-15 grams larger than Joker too.
