ub light for 3ft vivarium

so my female bearded dragon lives in a 3ft vivarium (will be getting her a 4ft one but not for another few years). anyway ive had her nearly a year and during that time ive only ever used a 24" uvb light in her viv. but i was just reading on some site that the light should stretch the entire length of the tank/viv. so should i buy a 36" light.

The light should be long enough to be over the basking spot where they spend most of their time.

The UVB light only needs to be 1/3-1/2. They do need to be able to get out of heat and UVB exposure sometimes.
