Okay, this guy won't stop getting darker. It's hard to get the true color of him to show in pictures so I've put in a paper towel roll and a carrot for comparison. He's really mud colored when he's feeling dark and only gets this orange when he's "flared up". I can't decide if I really like the brown or not.
When people come and visit my reptile room I rant and rave about the snows, raptors, etc and THIS is the gecko that THEY rant and rave about!
LOL, that's probably why he's still here, I'm trying to see the beauty in him. :main_rolleyes:

This one probably captures his "flared up" color the best, that's when he's the most orange:

This is more what he looks like when he's pissed off or just feeling "dark", he's in the shadow in this one, but he'll get to looking like this even in the light some days:

This was a bad shot, he's washed out in it, but you can see that his base color is actually brown not orange. His tail is nice and carroty, but his body is brown:

So, someone tell me the attraction here? Why is this guy getting all the love when my gorgeous super snows and raptors are just getting a nod and a smile?? LOL, I'm getting frustrated here!!! :p

im not sure at all, i have a very dark patternless that will go from very dark to light. Yours might be a good project for those out there who want to make a black leo.

No no...he isn´t a bit ugly! I have a SHTCB female that acts very simular to yours...one minute she has a very nice Tangerine colour and the next she is dark brown LOL. But I love her color changes...some of us have Leopard gecko chameleons :)

My best SHTCTB female does the same thing and so did her grandmother...lol. I used to think it was stress from being with a male that caused that, but I have seen her do it on occasion when she is with other females as well. But her normal color returns eventually, she never stays that dark for more than a few days.

awww! It think he's adorable! I don't think there are ugly leos.

Heh, I agree, leos are great! But man, I wish he didn't look like a lump of poo all the time, lol! He's got such a nice red carrot tail, wish he looked more like my breeding male which is almost as bright red as his tail.

Also, this guys ugly but he has a golden personality. Lots of visitors seem to like him so they always want to pet his little head and try to handfeed him a mealie. (I don't let strangers pick up my geckos) And to be honest, I don't like visitors to really touch or handle any of the breeding adults, so he makes a good "spokes gecko" for the rest of the colony. :main_rolleyes:
It just kind of makes me shake my head and wonder how I came to be the breeder represented by the UGLY gecko! Hahah

Oh, he's sweet looking! My favorite male (Iggy) does that too! He's a Hypo tang also (het Tremp albino) I think it is endearing! :)

Also, He is the only one that I will let my kids hold because he is VERY personable!

I thought I was the only one with leos like that. My patternless will be anywhere between a greyish beige and a muddy brown-green color. My SHTCT aren't looking so hot, colorwise, these days. They are more brown than tangerine. Could the seasons/temps play a role in their color changes? I keep waiting for my "ugly duckling" to turn back into a beautiful swan, but it ain't happening!
