A few days ago my wife went to get mealworms for me because I was really ill. Let me just say I gave her very specific instructions, but she came back with Superworms. :main_yes: The people at the pet store said they were the same things (never mind the fact I wanted mediums). :p Well my little gal loves 'em! Since then I picked up some mealworms and waxworms.

This morning I gave her a super, but tonight I gave her three mealworms. She ate the really big one, but then started glass-dancing in front of the Superworms container! Can you believe that? As soon as I pulled one out she went nuts and snatched it from my tweezers - she never does that!

Should I be concerned? I'm content giving her Supers, but I don't want her to get spoiled on them in the event they are unavailable for a period of time. Plus I like to vary her diet. Are they really ok as a staple, or should I ween her off them so she only appreciates them as a treat?

I don't blame her for liking them more than mealworms! lol Supers have more meat on them, because they're bigger gutload better, and wiggle around more. I think adding superworms as a part of your normal feeder rotation (you mentioned you feed a variety of bugs) is a good idea, although the mealworms may have met their replacement!

You can always look into ordering them in bulk. They come in tiny baby size and the adult worms live for months without pupating, so they're a very easy feeder to keep in the house as a permanent "colony" to pull from. I order mine by the thousand and one batch will last me months, easily (even between 7 adult and 7 baby chameleons and the 4 current geckos.) Just make sure to feed them properly, as they will eat each other for moisture if they aren't fed/"watered." But I throw in food daily and have no problems with that.
