is there a way to lower it? my digital thermometer says it's at 115 degrees. i unplugged it, but what should i do?

you can find a lamp dimmer from the store (mine came from wal****) they are about $10.

Either a rheostat (dimmer) or thermostat will help moderate your temperature. All a rheostat does is let you dim the output, but a thermostat regulates to a specified temperature. On/off thermostats just turn the heating device on and off as the temperature fluctuates, and proportional thermostats lower or raise the output accordingly.
