Unhealthy Leopard Gecko

I posted this on the general care page but didn't much feedback so after looking at the various option for threads, I felt it would be better suited here. Sorry for duplicate posts.

I acquired a leopard gecko from an acquaintance of a friend of mine. From the basic background info I got, the poor thing has not been taken care of for quite some time. He is very skinny, has been shedding for about a month, wasn't in any type of temperature controlled tank and may be impacted. I have had him since Saturday and have been searching through pages and forums ever since. We've spent over $100 so far just trying to get the essential items for him and seem to be making some progression but I still have concerns.

*As I mentioned he apparently has been shedding for quite sometime. When we took him over, there was tight skin around all of his toes, some on his tail and more concerning quite a bit around one of the eyes. We've created a warm humid box and started regulating the humidity in the tank. We've also been doing 30 minute humid "soaks" twice daily. Now, the skin around it's toes has improved drastically as did the skin around his eyes, however there appears to still be some parts in his eyes. (See pic) - I'm concerned that this may actually be an infection on top of left over shed. Is there anything I can do over the counter wise for this problem?

*The first day he ate a bit and the same the next however now he will only eat about 1/2 a wax worm (we were told to feed him these to help him gain weight). The other issue is that we have to hold the food up to his mouth with tweezers b/c he doesn't appear to be able to see the items. We've since been told to just stick with meal worms and I also found the thread about slurry, so I will be making that for him. How often should feed this way?

I'm doing my best to try and rehab this little guy b/c without it he surely would have passed. This however is my 1st lizard of any kind so I'm constantly second guessing myself.

Facts on the cage - His warm side is ranging between 85-90. The humidity is about 40-50%. Warm side has a UTH and a heat lamp as the temps weren't staying stable with just the UTH. That side also has a moist hide and a dry hide. The cool side shows about 72-76 and has a dry hide.

Any assistance/guidance is appreciated.

my number one best advice that me and anyone else can give you from here is to take the little guy to the vet. his eyes need to be carefully cleaned by a professionals hand, he appears to have mouthrot, or some other advance stage mouth infection (wich makes it painful to eat), and appears super skinny. the vet might give you a calorie booster of some sort, or an appetite stimulator. One of my boys (may he rest in peace) had terrible eyes like yours, and it took hours at the vets to get it off. Please take him to the vet, and it will do great things for the little guy hopefully...

Is there a website that helps with finding vets in the area that see lizards? All I'm finding are dog/cat vets even when searching reptile or exotic vets in my area.

you could always call and ask if they happen to treat reptiles. sometimes they dont list reptiles or exotics online, when they actually will accept them :) i dont know about any exotic listings though... im gonna go look now
