Update on bold halloween mask afghan crosses (for Angela).

My two babies from Gamer Geckos are looking beautiful. For some reason, most of the pics of the male didn't turn out well, but a couple were ok. I'll have to take more soon. Still deciding on names, too.

I've always loved them, too. Angela actually bought the parents from me. I started to regret selling them, so I decided to buy some of the babies to breed next season.

Its funny, not many people have Halloween Masks much. Your female is absolutely gorgeous! Those bold stripes and her mask is almost a perfect smiley face. I've been waiting to grab a trio from the Sykes line. Do you think that the outcrossing effects the mask much?

I honestly don't know. If I remember right, this pairing was an afghan bold x Halloween mask bold stripe. Angela can correct me if I'm wrong.

Really great looking morph/combo! I happen to believe that the Halloween Masks came from afghan geckos (as Matt Baronak indicated in one of his videos) - so crossing them back is always a great idea IMO. Would love to do so myself someday.

Yes, it was Afghan Bold x Bold Bandit Halloween Mask for the cross. Here's Dad:



Mom's not quite as bold, but she's still gorgeous and I love her head markings.

It really varies. Pure Hallween Masks will be more expensive.

So, my knowledge of genetics is pretty advanced, but line bred/polygenic stuff always gets me. When you cross it into something else, can you then redo that?

Example, if I got a Red Stripe and Bold Stripe, make a Red Bold Stripe, can I then use the Red Bolds to make just the classic Red Stripes and Bold Stripes as well? Or would all the babies be a mix of the Red and Bold forever?

Same with the Halloween Mask, can you cross it into the Afghans or other morphs yet still hatch out just Halloween masks during breeding?
