Update on Chakra---calcification

Hi all,

Chakra went for her check-up at the vet to check out her belly this morning.
She had a general exam and an x-ray---which found a) fat pads and b) a calcification. The only poop I had to show her was too dry to do a fecal but didn't seem to cause the vet any alarm when she saw them.

They ran a barium x-ray to see where the calcification was---thankfully it was not in her kidney and was determined either to be in her uterus or in her digestive tract (I guess with the fat it was hard to tell).

The vet didn't seem too concerned with it, but I'm wondering what I can do to help fix the calcification if its in her gut. Any ideas?

Obviously of course she's on a diet as well--but the vet said barring her developing any worrying symptoms or changes in behaviour that barring being chunky she was in good shape.

Any suggestions or anything much appreciated!

Cut back on dusting and feeder better insects. Phoenix worms are balanced and silkworms are higher in calcium. Try to avoid mealworms and superworms. They have more calories and they require too much dusting. What calcium were you using and how often?

I use the exo-terra brand cal w/d3, plain calcium and reptile multivitamin.
When she was eating every day she got plain calcium 3x weekly, the d3 twice and the multivitamin twice.
When eating every other day she got the plain calcium 2x, the d3 once and the multi once. She also has a dish of plain calcium on hand to use as she wants.

Its hard because after she finished laying her last clutch she began refusing all food except supers and is now hooked on them. She didn't like phoenix worms ever, but used to eat silks and butters happily, now I can't get her to eat any of those, not even crickets. Its been almost three weeks and (she had 1 mealie about 1 week ago) she refuses anything but supers---she gets too fat and blocked up though even eating just 1.

I wouldn't feed her superworms at all. Once you begin feeding her less and she starts losing weight, she may become less picky and start eating crickets. You can try hornworms too.

Yup, she hasn't had any for about three weeks now (minus one mealie like I said about a week ago) she doesn't want crickets yet lol. She's still pooping out poop (not just urates) so at this point I'm wondering if its basically really old calcified poop and will be treating her as if she's impacted.

She's down to 70 grams from 74--1 gram a week is pretty good. Vet said to aim for 55 or so.
