I expressed to hubby how badly Sophie needed to be seperated last night after he got home so he tranfered money from our savings and let me go buy her a 10 gallon and some things to set it up...god I love that man! Its a very Simple set up..Still need to buy her a heat rock and bigger UTH...right now I am using a UTH from our old Hermit crab set up.
I had mentioned that she was acting like she wated to eat but wouldnt when she was with Wyatt...that is unless I would drop a mealie right in front of her :main_laugh:
Anyway I put 12 mealies in with her last night after I got her all set up and come out this morning to find only 3 left in the bowl...WOOHOO!!
Wyatt however wont eat...he didnt touch any of his food :( Is it possible hes just upset I took her away? He still seems ok..I was rearranging his tank today and he came out and followed my hand around...hes a little stinker though...he likes it when nI hand feed him but I just cant do that every night.

Here's pictures of their individual set-ups. As sophie grows she too will get a 20L but right now shes fine in a 10.

I've been told to avoid heat rocks because they can burn your gecko. Most here recommend the uth. I hope that they both adjust to their new homes (being single is a new home too).

Looks good I would avoid the heat rock, it can cause serious burns to them. The UTH should be fine.

I'm almost scared to ask... but what kind of sand is that? And yes, I agree about getting rid of the heat rock.

Its marine sand. Its VERY fine almost like a powder.

our heat rock doesnt get hardly hot at all and they lay on it alot. its been in there a little over a month with no problems. I could take it out as I'm sure they'd be fine without it too.

I believe the problem with heat rocks, are that they are not the best.. quality... for lack of a better word and may malfunction and overheat. If your gecko is on it at this point, they may not realize until it burns them. Or, it may get wayyyy too hot, then your leo will go on it and get burnt.

Isn't marine sand something you use for like fish tanks? I never heard of it.

Ohh ok I hope it doesn't have anything harmful in it, that could hurt the geckos. I don't know much about sand but what I have seen and read I use papertowel because 1 I am cheap, 2 I am lazy 3 It's easier for me to clean up after 13 geckos lol.

no extra additives in it...its just super fine sand for looks...most saltwater enthuziest like the look of it and being thats its so fine it doesnt mess up the filter when it gets sucked up from the fish messing around in it.

for a big enough bag to put in my 20L it was 7.99.
but I replace it once a month every 15th..so it can get pricey. its easy to keep clean though and it doesnt stick to his prey. I know most dont agree with sand but this particular sand is my preference...all reptile sand ive seen has pretty large granules....
