URGENT Help Required! Leo Eggs

My leo eggs are in my 'self made' incubator, which is simply a box with vermiculite, and a thermometer, sat inside a faunarium, with the heat mat beaneath the faunarium.

The temperature is perfect its a constant 82F but im REALLY worried about the humidity, my one good egg that was really solid has begun to dent, this has only happend since last night, the eggs have only been incubating since yesterday.

I have taken the lid of the vermiculite box to prevent further denting. should i just leave it with the lid off?

Are the eggs fertile? I think if the humidity is to high the eggs would get bulky & mold.

I have heard sometimes that the water collection on the top of the container (lid) can actually build up to drip on the the eggs surface and this can cause the egg to go bad or mold. I'm not sure what you would use for that problem- maybe tape a papertowel inside the lid top?? I read that to candle the egg must be a few weeks old.. but you can try maybe :)

I believe denting means that it's too dry, so leaving the top off can potentially make it way too dry. What is the water to vermiculite ratio? If they are too dry, you can cover the egg more with vermiculite to make it plump back up.

Basically mold = too humid; denting = not humid enough.

Once, we had an egg that started to mold, so we sprinkled some baking soda on the top to help the mold, and took the lid off of the container to let the medium dry out a little bit. I put the lid back on after awhile, but the egg started denting after that. So at that point, I tried covering the egg with the vermiculite again to plump it back up.. in the end, the egg failed. However, we believe that the embryo died mid-term due to a turning incident by another hatchling. Sometimes, there's just really nothing that can be done.

It does sound like it's too dry.

Check out Albey's website (^^link at the top of the page^^) he has a formula to get the proper water to weight ratio for incubating eggs. It has worked well for me and many others.
