UTH and furniture

Does anyone put a barrier between the UTH and the piece of furniture or display that the tank is sitting on? We have ours on a wood laminate entertainment center. Not sure if we should place something between UTH and furniture to protect furniture from heat. Or would direct contact with the UTH even hurt/damage the furniture? Probably dumb question but still fine tuning our setup.

You already have the barrier of the glass. I also place a piece of ceramic tile over my UTHs & then 1 piece of paper towel over that. I have had no issues with damage to any of my pieces which include a rock formation very similar to your avatar pic & pieces that are actually made for fish tanks.

Well most uth's come woth those little feet and your supposed to put them on so theres clearence and airflow.. though if you want to maximise the heat going in the tank you could put a piece a stryofoam under neath it. (The WHOLE under tank.)

If I understand your question correctly, all you need to do is have the tank up a little bit from the surface it is on so that heat can escape. Some UTH's come with little rubber feet to put on each corner of the tank to raise it up a little bit, if your's didn't come with those things then you may just want to put a book under the middle of the tank, or little pieces of something under each corner. Hope I helped!

Every UTH I bought which has been many over the years, all have sticky things to put on the corners of the tank to raise it up. But little pieces of cardboard, corkboard or just about anything the same thickness will work.

It may also not be a bad idea to cut a piece of cardboard the size of your stand, and cover it with heat reflective tape or paint. This will protect the cardboard and stand, and help keep temps up in your tank if you have that problem. As was said, make sure you have something that allows for an air gap between the tank and the floor.
