UTH placement

I just got my UTH heater for my 15 gallon tank. I purchased the 10-20 gallon one ( 6 in. x 8 in.). I thought I would place it on one side so the length of the UTH would be vertical. This would also be where I plan on putting the warm hide. A EXO-TERRA HIDING CAVE MEDIUM (9 1/2" long x 6" wide x 3" high) vertical. SO it would pretty much cover the whole UTH. Should I place it on one side put it in the middle and put the length of the UTH horizontal so the cave wont cover the whole UTH or should I place it in the corner with the length horizontal? Does the the warm hide have to cover the whole UTH or is okay if only most of the hide is over it?

I hope some one can make sense of what I am asking and point me in the correct direction lol.

The warm hide doesn't have to cover the whole UTH. It comes down to personal preference how you want to arrange it. I have a warm hide that I normally place half of it over the UTH, the other half not over UTH. I notice that particular gecko in that tank regulates his body temperature by moving around inside it.

So there's no right way to do it, just as long as the temperature is set right.

Thanks Mardy!! I kind of figured but I wanted to be sure. I was thinking the same thing as your said your leopard gecko does,

" I notice that particular gecko in that tank regulates his body temperature by moving around inside it."

I think that is how I am going to set mine up as well.

Thanks again!!

^ i agree aslong as temps are right you cant go wrong, what I do for both my leos tanks I just have a big enough hide to cover the whole UTH and let them pick inside. I notice they go in the middle right after they eat, and lay on the side to 'cool' off. Just aslong as you have a thermostat/dimmer shouldn't be a problem.
