UTH problems

I can't seem to get the temp right. I am using a 8X8 exo terra heat wave the hot side is only 80 degree. i have the rheostat cranked. what am i doing wrong?

Edited this post because I realized that you were talking about the matt, that is called the same as the ceramic bulb (exoterra heat wave). Sorry :eek: I need to read more carefully.

Well, edited twice, let's see if I can help somewhat.

Take off the reostat and see if the matt has enough power to get the temperature any warmer, maybe it's too cold and you need complementary heating (if there is any gecko in take it out from the tank before doing that, so it doesn't burn). Tighten the wire to check if it's loose, maybe the matt isn't at is full potential because of that.

it's a UTH pad that adheres to the bottom of the tank.

yes it produces heat

What substrate are you using?

Whatever you're using, especially if it's sand, it can be too thick and all of the heat is being consumed by the bulk of it. Before I got my dimmer I used sand to regulate the heat by adding and removing it.

paper towels. I got it worked out. temp is 91.3 on hot side now 76 on cool.
