UTH Question

How much area of the tank should a UTH cover? I have a 10 Gallon Terrarium and a 10" x 11" Exo Terra UTH it covers close to 1/2 of the Terrarium is this too much coverage?

it should cover 1/3 of the tank

Should cover 1/3 but I don't see half hurting as long as their cool side is staying cool.

1/4 to 1/3 is recommended BUT confirm your temp with a reliable thermometer to be sure your UTH heats up enough. ZooMed makes a decent heat mat but I've seen other members post that ExoTerra mats don't heat up to a good temp

as long as your getting a good enough gradient you should be fine. Sorry my post was short I was doing a million things at once lol

Ok thanks I will test it out and see how the temps are once I get my tile installed.

So I installed tile with sand underneath it and was only getting floor temps of 80, this is after swapping the larger UTH for a smaller one. So i picked up a ceramic heat emitter to help raise the temps, I will likely need one for winter anyways. I have a question about the ceramic heat emitter it says in the instructions to use it with a wire lamp I have it in a 8.5" clamp lamp now is this ok or is this a safety hazard? It's a 150W heat emitter controlled by a dimmer switch btw.
