When I bought this setup...from pet smart the guy recommended this UTH.. It said 10-20 gallon...He told me that this tank was a 20 gallon Zilla tank with a lid that can lock on.. and that the UTH heater would be a perfect fit.. but today when I bought my reptile carpet after using paper towels for a while.. I bought the 29 gallon sized reptile carpet.. and when I got home I thought oh i'll just cut it.. turns out it was a perfect fit.. does this mean the guy gave me the wrong UTH.. and if it does then I am going to be a bat out of hell when I go back because this could be a reason to my health issues, I even told him.. it looks a bit small.. oh no it's the right size.. you sure? yes I am..

Here's a pic.... you decided....

PS: I am thinking of going back to a human heating pad.. he seemed to have less health issues using that thing for a year... does this sound like a good idea? or just buy a bigger sized UTH?

that does seem very small, but a human heating pad can be dangerous. i would try getting a bigger UTH or just a red heat bulb. hoped i helped

A 20 gal long tank is the same floor space as a 29-30 gal standard tank. A UTH for a 10-20 is not large enough to cover approximately 1/3 of the floor. Hopefully you can return it and get the correct size.

Don't let the pet shop talk you into an additional heat source like a light or rock.

I wish I could have warned you earlier somehow >.< When I was buying an UTH for my 20L, I was about to get the 10-20. It looked really small, so I went with the 30-40. I'm so glad I did that, because that size fits a lot better. So I would get the 30-40 gallon heater. It takes up about half or a little less than half of the tank which is perfect :)

I knew it, thanks for the comments... next time I'll go with what I say and not what he says..

Its fine.... just put his hot hide over the heat pad. They do not need the entire cage to be 90 degrees to thrive, just a large enough area for them to stretch out and sleep. As long as your house is around 75 degrees, you really will not have any issues.
