I have always been told that leopard geckos need a UVB bulb is that true? I see people keep these geckos in rack systems and there is no lighting what so ever, and their geckos are happy and healthy. Do they get all the vitamins they require from the powder that they ingest from eating their food source and is that enough?

Untrue. They need a bit of light in their lives for sanity and general well being but not direct and not UVB - room lighting is fine. Since they're crepuscular they don't often get direct sunlight in the wild and have adapted to that. They should get a bit of D3 in their vitamin supplement but a bit is enough, they don't need a lot.

Ok thanks, I didn't mean that people keep them in the dark, but that housing them with a light above their enclosure is what I meant. Again thanks for the help and information.
