V shaped pores

How old is a leo before the v shaped poors start to show? I have a jungle leo that is just shy a year I'm gussing from it's size when I got it in feb. and I can't see any poors on it's underside I took it to a reptile pet shop and the owner looked at it and said it was a female well last night I was standing in front of it's tank and it started licking its underside above it's tail and as it stopped I seen something protruding from that area and it went back up inside so I'm guessing this means what I thought was a female is really a male? Any thoughts on this. Thanks

From what you say you saw ...yes then it sounds male. BUT if you have a pic you could post maybe we could tell you for sure.

I have actually seen my females lick that same area, just like a male does, but since you saw something sticking out, I would think that was his hemipene..

The pores should be visable after a few weaks after hatching. if you check the area with a pocket lens or something like that, you should be able to see them. My females also lick themselves, so I'm not sure if you can state that the animal is a male only because of the licking.

Pictures would be best, but if you can't see pores I would say female. I have never seen a male where it was difficult to see pores. I have seen females that look to be males but not vice versa.

It's not the licking itself but the 1/2 inch long red thing that was sticking out that makes me think it's male. But I still don't see any pores unless they are the same color as her belly,my bigger males pores show up dark but this ones don't.?
