Well, I am going on vacation for the first time, and leaving my geckos in the hands of my brother. He is old and responsible, but doesn't care for much...so I am making his routine as simple as possible. :main_yes:

I am going to try to get a timer for the light (yes I have UTH, that stays on all day and night ;)) so he doesn't have to turn that on and off. And then he will moist the moist hut 3 out of the 6 days. And every night he will go and change the water bowl. I will have premaid dixi cups with about 10 mealies that he can dump in the food bowl at night. :D Then before I go I will do a thorough cleaning of my tank.

I think if I made him do everything that I do, he would not do any of it :main_rolleyes:...so I made it simple. I hope that the geckos don't have to shed, so I can be there if anything goes wrong. And I just hope they are fine :main_thumbsup:

I am sure it will be fine, you sound like you have made everything very easy and straight forward.

I try to make things as simple as I can when I know I am not going to be home as well. I just cannot see my mom digging her hands into the mealies to get them some food. Lol

Ya...my mom was like couldn't you just have him take the roaches?
And I was like...umm no? Who wants to grab 10 roaches out of a crate of 300 roaches...lol
But ya, he will have mealies laid aside in little jars, and will be easier than the dog food :p

In those individual mealworm cups, put a little gutload. That should ensure that they're loaded up for when he pours them in the dish. He can dump in gutload and all. It won't hurt a thing.

Have fun on your holiday vacation! :)

Planning on it. My mom said, "what if the geckos eat it?"..."it will be fine mom."

Everything should go just fine. It looks like you have made it very simple and even an Older Brother should be able to handle it.:main_thumbsup:

Thanks, all though one of them looks like shes going to start shedding about 2 days in...and the other one is a clutchmate, so they are on the same shedding schedule...So my wish didn't come true :p

I wouldnt worry about the shed, maybe have your brother mist the hide every day though? Usually shedding problems occur when multipul layers of shed build up, so dont stress. If there is a bit of shed on his toes just give him a warm soak when you get home...
