Hello!
I have a three year old male and he's recently been having issues with his vent.
I noticed it a couple of days ago. I picked him up, did a usual check up and I noticed the left side of his vent was slightly open. It opened up a bit more when his leg moved, too.
It closed back up the next day, but today the right side has done the same thing. I can't see anything wrong with it; there's no loose skin and when it was open there was nothing strange inside from what I could see. Nothing poked out, either. I put him in a humid box for about ten minutes and also soaked his rear end in lukewarm water and it seemed to close up again once I had taken him out.
Is this something to worry about? If so, should I take him to the vet or will it clear up on its own?
I don't have pictures at the moment; I'll try to get them tomorrow if it's still like it.
Please and thank you!

- Age & Weight - Three years, 75g.
- How long have you owned your leo - Two years.

A) Health/History
- How often do you handle your leo - Every day.
- Is your leo acting any different today? If so how does he/she normally act which differs from now. - He's not out as often; I assumed it was because it's Winter. He usually sits out in the open at least once a night, now he's almost always in one of his hides.
- Has he/she had any problems in the past, if so please describe. - Retaining shed on his feet every now and then; sometimes a full glove, other times just on his toes. Not present with every shed, though.
B) Fecals
- Describe - Two portions; large black portion with a smaller white one.
- When was the last time he/she went - Third of November.
C) Problem
- Described above.
Housing:
A) Enclosure
- Size - 86cm wide
- Type - Wooden with glass panel at the front
- Type of substrate - Very fine sand. I know this is looked down upon, but I've watched his feed and he doesn't ingest the sand and he likes to dig himself a little nest and curl up in it. Possibly changing it to slate but I'm not sure.
- Hides, how many, what kind - Three; Exo Terra Medium Reptile Cave above the heat mat, another 'mountain' like hide in the middle and a moist resin hide in the cool end.
B) Heating
- Heat source - Heat mat, Exo Terra Moonglo 75W bulb.
- Cage temps - Only have the middle and hot end; Middle is 80 degrees, hot end is 86 degrees.
- Method of regulating heat source - Thermostat.
- What are you using to measure your temps - Digital thermometer.
- Do you have any lights - Exo Terra Moonglo 75W.
C) Cage mates
- How many - 1 male.
- Describe health, or previous problems - Described above.

A) Typical diet - Crickets occasionally coated in calcium dust which are gut loaded on calcium rich bug food. Won't eat anything else.
- What you're feeding - 5-8, I feed again whenever no more crickets are available in his vivarium.
- How are you feeding - Deposited into his vivarium.
B) Supplements
- What vitamin/minerals are you using - Calicum dust.
- What are you gut loading food with - ProRep Bug Grub.
