vermiculite too wet...

I was kind of in a hurry when I mixed the vermiculite, so it's a little on the damp side...the eggs look nice and plump. There is a little smell when I open the container. There are tiny holes on the top because its not in an incubator (cuz I'm poor) its on top of my cable box. The temp is 85 and the humidity is about 80-85%. The eggs were just laid yesterday so there hasn't been much time for change.. Just wondering if I should just leave it and let the moisture leave on its own or should I change the vermiculite?

If it was me personally I wouldnt take the chance and I would change out the vermiculite ... if you know you mixed it too damp don't take the risk :)

If you mix the vermiculite at 1 part to .8 part water by weight, you are good. For example: 1 oz. vermiculite weighed, spray with water until the scale reads 1.8.
