The heat cable is OUT on the bottom portion of our Vision rack. I've had it with this stuff.... So if anyone is teetering on the edge and contimplating heat cable over flex-watt, go with Flexwatt. :main_angry:

I personally love the heat cable. I have a bunch of Vision racks for my boas and balls and have never had a problem. Well, except when a rat got out and chewed up a cable.

Is it only the first few feet of the cable that is dead? If so, this is by design. The cable is dead up until the little blue ring. I think it's blue anyway. Check it out and see.

Up to the blue ring is a cold lead. After that it is heat. I am thinking thats why you feel the heat differance. Also I believe it is the first 6 1/2 feet that is the lead.

nope, I knew the blue ring thing. It is an entire cable. The rack came with two cables...one is working, the other is not.

yeah, I'm just kindof angry because I haven't been to check them in a few days with finals and everything going on I've been so stressed! But when I did check them I picked up one of the females and she was cold on her tummy and she was sitting over the warm side. all three bottom levels were out completely. Those three levels have all gravid females in them so I was like, "well, just great! How long has it been out for?!" So I moved them all to another rack that has extra spots in it...so all is good for now...I am ordering some new cable on monday for rush delivery..maybe I was just one of those unlucky ones....?

Is it the cable in that new rack you got? If it is I would think it would be under warrenty. I would be totally pissed and stressed also.

John, yes, it's the cable in the new rack. I will call vision on Monday and see what they can do. I am just worried about the geckos getting out of the other rack I put them in. Especially the one male that has a knack for escaping. *rolls eyes* He's gotten out 5 times now...I know his routine....goes under the china cabinet...I find him three days later behind the incubator. hehehe. And I don't want to find any gravid females eaten by the cat. OMG I think I would lose my mind right now.

Well that's crappy-definately call Vision on Monday. Between the two I love my heat cable.
For your escape artist-why don't you put him in a temp 16qrt bin w/ lid? He can't get out of that can he? I think the rest will be fine, don't stress too much.
