We had an egg who's clutchmate hatched last Friday, and began sweating very early this morning, so we thought it was going to hatch. Well, 4 hours quickly turned into 12 hours, and the egg still hadn't hatched, but the sweating actually stopped. I pipped the egg and opened him up to see if he was still alive..

At least they look peaceful in the last one. What's even more strange, is that I kept saying, "I have a feeling there's two babies in that egg" and "Watch it have two heads or something" because the shadow the baby made when candling always looked a bit odd. Mike even said today, "Maybe it's siamese twins or something."

We had a turning incident happen to five eggs when another hatchling dug up an entire incubation container. This is the second egg that has failed, we've had two hatch, and one more to go *keeping our fingers crossed* Although, I have no idea if the turning of the egg is what caused this deformity.

Indeed. We have some good news, though. The fifth egg that I mentioned (from the turning incident) just hatched - - - and it's a Mack Snow :sweetheart: So at least this day has ended more positively with a healthy hatchling :)

That's what we thought as well, Marcia. It's very sad, but it was completely out of our hands. Thank you Marcia :)

Larry - that was one of Nef's eggs too

Shew.. well the Mack Snow that hatched doesn't have any deformities or anything, and is perfectly alive and running around just fine.. But I noticed a bubble-like thing at the base of the tail. At first, I thought it was a hemipene or something sticking out of his body, but when you look closeley it's a bubble with some blood in it.. you can see right through it, pretty much.. What should I do, is this reminants of the yolk sac?? I REALLY hope that it is!!

sorry for the hair in these..

Really... I've never seen that. I'm glad the other egg is OK!

I think it was caused by temp. fluctuation mid-term.. During our "turning incident," there was some temp. spikes while we were fixing/repositioning the 5 eggs. At least three of them hatched out okay though. Although, the third one that just hatched is questionable, it has some kind of blister on its bum. We hope it's just yolk sac that will come off soon.. We'll be sure to keep everyone updated.

The 'siamese twins' is strange....did you notice any extra parts aside from the head??? I'm very sorry for the loss of the little one(s). At least they didn't suffer. It is rather interesting, though. I'm always fascinated by the twin thing in one egg.....

No, but I didn't unravel the gecko either, I just left it curled up like that. I have it in the freezer though, for later inspection (call me crazy, but I did that just in case I needed to look at it again).

We've always been fascinated by the twin in one egg thing too.

We did find two more eggs laid just now from our mack patternless female, so with this death comes more life at least :) :main_yes:

Thanks about the eggs Mari :)

The bubbly thing looks the same today, but less red.. I will take more pics in a min. and update that thread.

Thanks for your support Kristi!

Is the little one still running around and acting normal? I sincerely hope it's just something superficial and non-threatening.

Yes, she is, she acts perfectly normal, and even when I touch that bubble, she doesn't move (but when I was getting the perlite off of her with some small tweezers, she moved around a lot).. So it's weird, because touching it doesn't bother her.
