Hi,
I have 1-2 year old female who I bought about a month and a half ago. I was told she does eat mealworms well when I first got her and she did go through a 3+ hour drive before I picked her up. I also bought another female from the same person at the same time and she is healthy. I was slowly building up my dubia colony so I was trying to get her to switch to mealworms. It didnt seem to work so then I tried dubias. after about 2-3 weeks she still had not eaten and was starting to lose fat from her tail. Once I noticed her tail was getting thinner I started looking into the Gecko Slurry and got the ingredients. By the time I got the ingredients she basically had a stick tail. She came to me at about 62G and is now around 53G. Her body is completely the same size. Once I fed her the slurry she started to very slowly gain weight. Her low was 49G. So she is now gaining weight slowly, but not eating consistently. She has been pooping almost every day now though and has urate. I soak her every few days to make sure she is hydrated. The one concern I have is that her tail is so skinny. I would gladly take her to a vet but I cannot miss work and for the vet to stay late is $200+ without any tests or medicine. I cannot afford to spend that much. I'm sure I'll get backlash, but I dont care about those people since they have nothing helpful to say. I would like some advice for what I should be doing until I get a day off from work to get her checked if she is still skinny. Again, she is gaining weight at a slow pace and pooping regularly. Eats supers worms, sometimes dubias, and loves the wax worms. I have all my feeders eat vegetables and roots with calcium mixed in to their oat bedding. The dubias get a chow I buy online and fruits too.
I have not seen any posts about weight loss only in the tail and then natural change to weight gain.
Thank you
