First off, I got my two baby leopard geckos on Monday, July 7th, 2014. They have been with me for 6 days now and they are such a joy to have. They are currently into a 20gL together and I'm awaiting to know their genders. Until then, Viper is a female and Echo is a male.
Day 6:
Viper
Viper is a lovely tangerine color with lavender patches that have black dots within them. She has a wide white band running across the sides of her face and the base of her skull. She has green patches on her head where her eyes are.
This entire time, I had never seen the leos eat. I knew they ate about 5 mealworms and 2 crickets, but I can't tell who is eating what. Finally I put out about 30 mealworms and now there are about 16-18 left. I watched Viper eat two of the mealworms. For now, the leos are sleeping into the log for the entire day and for most of the night. They are changing positions, but not leaving their comfort zone much.
Viper is getting more tame ... somewhat. She's sitting on my stomach while I type this out, yet she bit my hand about 5 minutes ago. It felt like I was being attacked by velcro. I was bitten by a house gecko before and it's the same feeling. It doesn't hurt, nor does it leave a mark. Silly geckos.
Now every time I look down Viper cocks her head up to stare at me. I wonder what she's thinking.
Echo
Echo has more lavender onto him than what Viper does and he's got a white crescent on the back of his neck that contains so many tiny black dots. He also has three dots within a V on his nose. He has dots everywhere! He has blue patches on his head where his eyes are.
He has become more docile for sure, but he's a LOT more active than Viper. He's currently on my neck/chest/shoulder as I'm typing this. He just won't sit still! He still shies away from my hand, but he crawls on top of the log instead of screaming at me or my fiancè. My fiancè actually got a cut on his hand from the lid of the tank. He jumped when Echo screamed (he didn't see Echo and Echo bit his finger out of nowhere) and cut his hand on the mesh lid. Talk about ouch.
I still haven't seen Echo eat yet. He's thinner than Viper and you can almost see his hip bones, A lot of the leos at this particular store were super skinny. Echo's tail isn't as thick as Viper's either, but hopefully that will change since I'm getting some Repti Calcium and such from offline.
Here are some pictures of Viper and Echo that I took today.
