Hey all, tonight I paired up my virgin boy to my 2 year old seasoned female for the first time. She's ovulating, so accepted him right way, however, he didn't seem to get the hang of things. The first attempt, he latched on to her tail and I admit, I paniced a little after seeing the gouge he was making. So as soon as he let go I removed her. After watching a few videos, I now understand that maybe he wasn't being as aggressive as I feared, so I tried again. This time I put them both into a separate tank. Again he lunged for her, chomping down on her neck this time, but that was it. She tolerated this for a good 20 mins, until she eventually gave up and began to attack him. They are now back in their own vivs with her looking a little worse for wear ![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
How long do you leave them to it for? I know he'll find his way eventually, but naturally, I'm concerned about the damage he is doing to the female (and what she could possibly do to him when she's had enough). Also, how do you separate them when things start to go bad and he's latched on with a vice grip?
As you can tell, I'm new to this. I last bred leos about 10 years ago and I don't remember it being this stressful :main_laugh:
Thanks![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
