Greetings--
Two days ago in front of my leos hide there was what looked like a LARGE poop--about 2-3 times normal size. I scooped it out and broke it apart. It was about 10 mealies and a little sand (he eats up to 10 of the small size in a night). Is vomiting normal?
I am the one who posted the "to sand or not to sand" post so I got a lot of opinions on sand. I am getting rid of the sand tomorrow and getting tile, at least until my leo is full grown.
He ate a few mealies the next day and pooped tonight, which seemed smaller than normal. I broke it apart and it seemed pretty sandy.
If he is starting to get impacted, is there anything I can give him to help flush him out? He ate a couple more mealies today and no vomit, so that is good.
I could be wrong, but I think the problem with the sand comes when I feed him outside of the dish. He is an aggressive eater, so I can see a little sand on his lips after he attacks a mealie or cricket. If I only dish fed him, my guess is he would be OK. The two days prior to the vomit, I fed him outside the dish (most days I just give mealies in the dish), so I think he ate extra sand two days in a row.
Any suggestions on straightening him out would be much appreciated.
