W&Y Combinations

Can people please post pictures of their W&Y combinations? I have seen a large number of normal W&Y and they just look like low quality tangerines to me. I’ve also seen a few combos on TUG’s site, and have a hard time telling how they determine if an animal is a W&Y.

Thanks, Nick

Hi Nick,

Not necessarily 'combinations' but here's some hatchlings :

To be honest, like with all morphs you can get crap examples and good examples. A good W&Y is like a good snow/blood/raptor etc, it stands out. A poor one looks 'average'. Enigmas and others are the same.....

And like the poster above was saying there can be some "normal" looking W&Y it all depends on the breeder and the animals they use. It is known that some people say their geckos are w/y when they are just hypos because w/y's and hypos have somewhat similar characteristics.

I just can’t seem to wrap my head around this morph.

Although the Bell Enigma W&Y looks good, it doesn’t look significantly different from a Bell Enigma. How can you even tell that the animal is a W&Y?

I’ve read some threads that sate that you have to wait until the animals are older, and even then some people that are working with them don’t seem to really have a grasp on what to look for in an animal.

To me it seems that the W&Y are low quality tangerines w/ high white sides that somehow got the label of a base morph…

Nick,

It's hard to see on photos here, but a quality W&Y in 'real life' is a stunning gecko. I don't really go for tangerine based Leo's, I much prefer snows and lighter tones, but W&Y aren't just tangerine hypos.
My male adult is amazing to look at in the flesh and he is the father to all the hatchlings I posted, you can see the differences already. They are like enigmas in that you literally do no know what you will get...
My best description to a friend was that they are 'enigma lite', not as blatantly different as enigmas but definitely different. On hatching you can certainly see they aren't 'normal'....

To stress though, if you use poor quality animals in any line, you are likely to get poor quality offspring. I have been very careful in building all my lines over the years, the W&Y are just the same.

I can say hand on heart these guys are as exciting as anything I have ever seen.....

Ps - the main reason I like them? They don't have any issues like enigmas can.......
