Hello all,

could someone, who breed W&Y, tell me something about their syndrom/disordered? I had heard that it is similar to the Enigma syndrome but it is much lighter. Will this disordered pass with age of that gecko in which disorderd occured?

Regards

I only produced one last season. She only lay 5 fertile eggs and five were all raptors (first timer). The father is about year and five months and no sigh at all, the hatchling now 5 months no sighs at all. I believe someone here posted an article on this saying it is attributed to close breeding. Try a search.

I've heard some things about a few hatchlings having balance issues but I don't think its consistent or as bad as enigma. I think I too would assume that the issues that arose came from inbreeding or some other relatively isolated issue and will not be widespread. Personally I haven't bred them but I bought a 10g and a 50g male from well known breeders. They seem a little on the dumb side (especially the big male who can't figure out head from tail on a female gecko...<sigh>) but no worse than a couple of the other geckos I own. Other than that they have absolutely no issues and are healthy, calm, sweet leos.

I just bought a w&y male and i thought he seemed a bit off... I had no clue there was such a thing as w&y syndrome or that there was any kind of problem. If I had, I don't think I would have gotten the little guy just because I hate to see animals have to deal with such disorders. That' why I avoid enigmas... What are some of the things that happen with this disorder? Just in case my baby has it, i want to be prepared.
