Wagging tails

Last night i put my hand in my geckos tank and he came shooting out of his house at an insane speed. Its the fastest ive ever seen him move. then he just stayed there and started wagging his tail, which ive only ever seen hom do just before he was about to strike for a cricket.

At first i thought he was really hunry, as usually the hungrier he is the more interested he is in movement (thinking its food.) But when i put crix in his tank he wasnt that interested in them.

Did i scare him and his wagging was trying to ward me off or something?


anyone have a solution? im just interested really

They usually wag there tail when they are not happy with you.

lol. I'm guessing it's the "not happy" part....not so much the "wanting to make babies with your hand" part.

lol "make babies with your hand" I've seen a few of my females do this, sometimes when i enter the room. I think they do this when they feel threatened and it's a warning they do to say "back off."

I had it happen to me once when This Fool was on the couch with me. He looked up straight to my eye and started the "snake wag" I knew what was up so I let him for a sec than he kinda was like "Oh that's right your you" and walked around onto my hand. My two little girls just kinda either run when they see me coming or stare in awe at my hand. I see that and think "Wow the hand of God"

Tail waving (upright and slow, like a snake) is a defensive threat. Tail rattling (low and fast) is breeding behavior.

Speaking of putting your hand in when its mealtime, have you guys every got mistakenly bit by any of your geckos when you go to put in a bowl of food? i have sometimes, its pretty funny because they pretty much bite at whatever is moving.

lol. We haven't but I've heard of many people getting bit that way

yea my male shtctb strikes at my hand when hes hungry if hes not hungry no problem but if he is he gets me everytime..doesnt ever hurt and ive come to expect it now lol

Alot of my adult females do that when its feeding time, and almost all my babies try and bite me at feeding time as well! LOL its funny to watch!
