I have 2 geckos. one male and one female. they are currently separated because my female was too young to have her breed. I want to put the two of them together and i figured wait til they are both around 18 months old (this december). is this a good idea? i do want to have them breed but only when it is safe for them because of their age. would i be able to keep them together at all times?

The age, although important, does not matter nearly as much as the SIZE. Normally, people wait until about 50 grams.

Also, you'll need to make sure the female is ovulating, otherwise she will not be receptive to him. Here is a link to a pretty good picture of what an ovulating female's belly will look like, and a description:

As far as keeping them together, my personal opinion is not to. A lot of males try to breed constantly. Females of course will not let them. It's just less stress and less trouble if you separate them once you believe he's gotten to her.

Good luck!

I keep my two breeders together but if he begins to pester her i usually seperate them. If you want to put them together year round you can, just always be prepared with an alternative becuase breeding agression is common with some males. As for breeding i would make sure she is over 50 grams first.

All the above is true but wait till BOTH of them are 50g+ its safer :)
