Not seeing you geckos enough? (Part One.)
Although my testing is not complete,
I have found geckos I have not regularly
seen in three years to now be appearing
at all hours.
I have been landscaping (larger aquariums)
living quarters with pieces of field stone.
(on cool side)
Tank floor still available for hot belly heat.
Making climbing/interest areas with the stone.
See photos. The geckos are loving it.
Old lady(5yrs.) Lola very seldom seen except
on her way to the outhouse, now lays in the
evening on the stone and is seen mazing
her way through the separations of each
stacked stone. Very pleased here!
And the geckos seem to be too.
Will most likely be doing all the tanks that
size permits.
Take care. :D Hj

Example of field stone changes in a 55 Gal.

Changes in a 20 long.

Since changes Lola has been seen
all different hours, resting, climbing and mazing
through the stones. I hadn't seen her much
for the last 2/3 years. She is 5 now, but acting
younger.

Lola2.jpg

Although Spider is not shy about being seen and
showing off....she too has been resting out of the
hides more lately on the stones.

Spider3.jpg

Ketoha has done nothing but hide and
quit eating since laying this seasons eggs. But after
setting her place up for a exercise/appetite builder,
she is coming back around to being seen.
And we are working on the appetite too.

KETOHA2.jpg

All I know at this point is each tank adding the
field stone, has brought interest/change in that tanks
geckos.
I currently have 5 nearly done and 4 more to go.
Plans are to do 20's through 55 gals.
My son overbought on field stone for decorating.
When I get done he will have bought the correct
amount. LOL :main_yes:
Hope some of you will try it and post
some remarks if you begin to see your friends
more often. :main_thumbsup:
Take care. HJ

The geckos must have been sending ESP to your son to make sure he'd get extra just for them, it was a master plan from the very beginning :D Your tanks look amazing HJ, I am sure they all think they're in gecko heaven now  TCHJJB

The setups look great :) I'm not surprised you're seeing more of the them now, I know mine love it when there's something new to climb on or investigate. I know leos are supposed to be creatures of habit but changes here and there seem to keep them from being "bored" so to speak.

Wow! Your setups are great and I think I am inspired. You're geckos all look so happy to have these stones. : )

I wonder if my lady Speck will be a little less shy if I try something like this. I bet she would. And Qamar and Enheduanna as well.

Hi California Girl.
LOL, I like that. The master plan.
All the gathering here gets together once
a week for our "round table ESP" sessions.:D LOL
Thanks for the nice words and of course the humor.
Hope all is well, see you are doing Summer classes.:main_thumbsup:
All the best to you.

Just a thought....Tanks look great just be careful of the additional weight on the tank bottoms. I had one I blow out years ago as I stacked up rocks for a set up.......

Thank You Chelsea.
Yes, my thoughts too.:main_thumbsup:
I find them very curious to investigate
right away.
Changes seem to help the "more boredom"
from confined living.
Take care, appreciate the comments. HJ "

Jen, I certainly appreciate your
nice comments.
I think Lady Speck too, would be inspired.
Show her the photos and see.
Remember the weight involved if doing it.
You can pick stone that is thinner and less
weight then some I have. They build well too.
I kind of live on the danger side of my brain
and the plus outweighs the minus for me.
Plus I did a little stealing from my Son's pile
of landscaping stones. "don't tell on me."
Most of my tanks were built to hold
water @ 8.4 pounds per gallon.
Fish aquariums are more able to take weight
on the glass without trouble.
But you can still do nice, good looking,
and gecko interesting ones in the reptile tanks.
Good geckoing, take care. HJ

Steve....very good comments.
Appreciate the reminder and the
compliment.
I have most Fish aquariums....
Made to take 8.4 pounds + per gallon of water.
But I know I can be pushing for a blow out too
when I get to stacking....
and sometimes can't quit. LOL:wall:
I'm kinda hooked on a scenic gecko experience
since I started the changes.
Also they all want it now...they keep pushing me
for stone to lay on. :main_thumbsup: and I can't
stop their yapping :furious3: at me. Keeping me up at nights
while they are having their "GeckoGathering."
Thanks again and take care. HJ
