so this was going on the 7th day it started to change colors and stink, so i cut the egg open. From the looks of it there is a fully developed baby gecko dead :( I feel so bad maybe i should stop trying to breed them. But I appreciate the input and any info you may have that could help would be very grateful thank you!

It's rare that any breeder gets a 100% success rate. There are lots of factors that could cause a baby to not make it. Some may be environmental, others genetic, and sometimes there just isn't a good answer to why it happened. Take a second look at your incubation setup just to be sure there isn't anything environmental that you may need to change. It can be frustrating when you try to do everything right, and don't get good results. If it is something genetic the clutchmate may give you some ideas when it hatches, or future clutches may also give you some indication of a genetic issue. For example, we had one girl who threw all deformities her first year (most fatal). We weren't sure what was causing the issue. All other clutches from other animals in the same incubator were ok. The second year we paired her with a different male to be sure it wasn't just something about the combination. Still deformities, or dead in the egg. We then knew it had to be something about her. She was sold as a pet only animal, and after the first clutch hatched that second season we disposed of any other eggs she laid. No sense in incubating to full term when we would probably end up having to cull the animal as soon as it hatched. We still have a baby from the first year who we call Gimpy due to her deformed leg. Once she is done ovulating and being on her hunger strike she will go up for adoption as a pet only animal.

Thanks for the help, The other egg is good so far and it just started to swell up. The incubation we keep it at a constant 88 degrees, and every time i checked the humidity was 75% and above. It is just sad because of how fully developed the little guy is. I will let you all know how the second egg turns out because it should be hatching any day now, thanks for the help and the tips.

I had this happen to me too. One of my eggs was going to hatch in what looked to be a week or two but then it started to mold so I eventually slit it and saw a baby that was dead inside. They are supposed to move around inside the egg if the egg is good right? This baby was 90% developed but was just dead. It was so frustrating.
