I fed my Leo's wax worms for the first time today. Let's just say it was fun watching my six geckos go through a 50 worm tub :) When it's time to buy feeders... I might have to pick some more up :)

Mine are crazy for waxworms to, but you gotta be careful with them they are like candy to geckos and they get addicited! I would only offer them maybe once or twice every couple weeks.

Yeah that's for sure. I had fed one of my males a few years back a couple of wax worms because I bought a big tub for one of my females that wouldnt eat. So she ate some waxies but not a whole tubs worth so when they started to die I began feeding the rest to other geckos so I didn't waste a bunch of money on dead wax worms. Well needless to say I then had a male who wouldnt eat Anything but Waxworms. So I will only feed them to problem feeders from now on.

I also have never fed them to my geckos (and won't) but just bought 50 for my girl that doesn't eat. She has yet to eat any.

Yes and no. They are high in fat, so you will definately get size on the gecko, but it's not going to gain very much lean mass at all. They also can lead to an obese gecko with a fatty liver if used as a staple feeder.

If you want to put weight on the leo in a healthy way, I would definately give roaches a try.

The cutting of the head off is the larger mealies or supers, however it's only a myth. The acid content in a leos stomach will kill the worms faster than the worm could even try to eat through the leos body.

I personally liked dubias, they don't fly and can't climb walls. They also have a softer body compare to other types of roaches.
