Does anyone else have a problem with them jumping out of the tank? We now have to stick the lid down to make sure he won't jump out. So far he's done it 4 times!

yep. they are notorious jumpers. I've had mine manage to jump out of holes in my lid where the cords go through. They are almost as bad as bettas. I've lost a couple boys when the lids weren't on properly.

we have a ledge on the top of our tank that is just out of the water and Eric(my weather loach) likes to sit on it. He also likes to squeeze himself inbetween the filter and the glass. It's quite funny when he did jump out because he used to get covered in dust and it made him look fluffy. But we've no moved the tank into the kitchen and he hasn't jumped out since, strange or what.

Keep posting if you have one, it's quite interesting to know that other's have them too.

P.s. Also how big is your's? Mine is now 6inches when we we're told he wouldn't even grow half of that, they lied!!!!

dojo (or weather loaches) grow to be about 10 inches total. The black kuhli loach (which often looks like a pygmy dojo loach) only grows about 3 inches. I have six of them in my tank with my dojo. Cute little buggers.

My loach is about 5 or six inches now.

I love loaches. All I have now are 6 kulhli loaches and 4 zebra loaches. They are great fish.

Weather loaches need a sealed tank, they are notorious for jumping. They do best in schools of 6, and they can be very active and fun.

I haven't got a permit but i don't know if it's different in other countries.

They are all slightly different colours so i don't think you need to worry about that, i think you'll find they get darker as they get older, But i'm no expert.

Hope this helps

sheep lizzy how big is your tank wb x

I'm not sure, when i get the chance i'll measure it.

Sadly one of my fantails has died :( and the other one is disabled (it swims upside down but it eats fine) Looks like i'm getting another fish soon (but i don't think i could cope with any more weather loaches)

Fancy goldfish who have trouble swimming are most likely experience swim bladder trouble. I recommend feeding small quantities of green peas for a while to clear their system. Frozen peas work great. Thaw them out, remove the shell and mush the insides into small soft pieces and feed them to your fish. This is effective if you catch the problem early.

Thanks for the advise but my fish has been like this for a while and is coping fine. If it had only just started doing it then i would try it but it's a bit late now. It's also had growth problems, it's got fatter ect but it's fins haven't changed, that could also play a part in the problem.
