I had been wondering about this for a long time, most people say when leos slow down on eating during autumn/winter, their weight should more or less remain the same. However, during that time of the year, my leos would slow down or stop eating completely, but their level of activity remain the same as usual (always climbing here and there, and sleep on the warm areas); the worst part is, some of them will lose up to 10-15% of their body weight during the 3 months.
Take BuBu as an example (I have 3 years record, his weight pattern is almost the same every year); he is 90-91g in mid September, stops eating (I did intervene and gave him a bit of slurry once every 2 weeks) and his weight drops to 76-78g in January. Then he resumes eating and by the end of May, he gets to 85-86g and remains steady for a few months. Then at the end of August till mid September, his weight will boost to 90-91g, and the cycle begins again.
Does everybody's geckos really don't lose weight at all?? Do they remain fairly active when they slow down on eating?
