One of my leos has addopted a weird behavior. He will be walking around his tank and will go to the glass and act as if he is trying to escape and it looks like he is running on the glass. I feel bad when he does this like I may be treating him wrongly but idk, he is also not eating very much at all only a cricket or two a week. He is in his own 25g tank and im very worried. has anyone ever seen this before?

Hello there well it sounds like he is really strees out now if I may ask you what are your temps and do you have a undertank heater?. And what kind of light are you useing? if it is a bright light leos don't like that at all. If you could please answer this then I can better help you. :)

I don't ness. agree...my Bonnie will do this often...usually what I notice is if she really wants out of the tank...usually only see the behavior in the evening and I will go over to the tank and put my hand in..she will walk to my hand and climb up. Not saying these guys are SuPeR inteligent but I think when you do something like interact with a living creature they begin to learn behaviors.

I don't know how old your leo is, how long you have had it, your tank..etc etc. Maybe fill out the Leo health form in the sticky. Just saying don't jump to worry right away. :)

Just wanted to add...my male, who isn't the most socialable Leo where as Bonnie actually hangs out with me on the couch, will NOT do this behavior and never has. Thats what leads me to my conclusion that it could be a normal behavior saying...PiCk Me Up :)

thanks so much for the help. my temps right now are 88 on the warm side and somewhere around 80 on the cold as of right now I only have a crappy lil stick on thermometer and I just ordered a good one with a temp probe that is on its way. I had been using a light i had on my old fish aquarium that is pretty bright but I have kept a few leos in there before with little problems either way I tried changing it out today with a normal dome light so we will see how that helps but most of the time he does the running thing at night time so idk

Tank may be too cold. When the glass is warm they can recognize that there is a barrier.

hmm this would make sense with the fact that he isnt eating but when you say the glass is warm do you mean the side or bottom of the tank? thanks

I will give it a try tonight if I see the same behavior I have thought about that before but didnt want to stress him out at all. my leo is about a year and I got him from yourgeckoguy.com back in January. the reason I am worried about this is because he has done it semi-frequently since I got him and has never really eaten that well and i just wanna fatten him up and make him happy haha. thank you very much for the help
