What kind of Morph?

Wanted to know if anyone could tell me what kind of morph this is and how much they usually sell for? He's currently shedding so that's why he looks a little grayish right now. I was thinking of trading him for a baby (just got him today) but I don't want to give up something that's more rare for something more common. Thanks!

He's a SHTCTB...meaning Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail Baldy.

You CAN pick them up at a pet chain store for $30, but it's the "luck of the draw". I would say they are less common than "normals" or albino strains there. The price depends on the quality of the gecko.

Why if you've only had him a day would you want to trade him?

I took him from someone that didn't have the time to care for him anymore. I always planned to get a baby and the enclosure I have is a little small I think. So you're saying $30 for a baby or one this size. I don't know what pet stores you go to, but I only see normals for $30 and they are much smaller than this guy.

Well...if I could type out the name of the pet chain I'm referring to, I would, but this site censors it. It's a well known chain, 5 letters long. The ones in my area have ALL kinds of morphs in their tanks, anything from Blizzards to Albino Pattys (in fact, I picked one up there), and I've definitely seen SHTCT babies there.

I've yet to see an adult leo in ANY pet store in our area, chain or mom and pop.

Even if you do get rid of him for a baby, the baby will be full grown in a number of months, and you'll be right back where you started :)

I think I know what chain you mean, but in my area (Mesa, AZ) we really only get the normals and albinos and even then albinos sell for $10 more. I've seen adult normals starting at $90. Where do you live, maybe I need to make a road trip! ;) Mom and Pop pet shops always have some larger ones around here. As for wanting a baby, just wanted a more colorful morph to begin with is all.

Well I think he is a lovely gecko to start with :D My first leo is a normal/high yellow, and i love her two peices :)

and you think that you enclosure is two small?

what size enclosure is he in? a 10gallon is perfectly fine for a adult leo. you could keep him. then purchase a 20 long.(check craigslist) put him in there. and put a new little one in the 10gallon (if thats what you have)

just my 02 cents :D

Wow! You could get a pic of your gecko drinking? That's pretty rare. I've only seen my gecko drink once and it was only for a few seconds. Sorry I just had to say that.

Haha...it does make for neat pictures when they are drinking :) All depends on the gecko. I have a male that I always seem to catch drinking (pictured).

I've heard many people say that an adult is fine in a 10 gallon, but it just seems so cramped. This guy is maybe 9 inches nose to tail and the foot print of my tank is only 20 inches across. You add to that a hide, humid hide, water bowl, calcium bowl and feeding bowl and nearly all the floor space is spoken for. Luckily I have a 15 gallon high so I was able to buy a ledge by pet-tech to create more space above, and it still feels cramped watching him in there. :anxious:

The tree may be something I remove in a few days. The previous owner told me he loved it and I thought it might help him acclimate to his new home to have it in with him at first. The enclosure needs to fit in this piece of furniture so this is as large a tank as I can have.

looks good. glad you decided to keep him, & not trade him for a baby :D
personaly to me, it looks as though he has enough room in there.

oh and, i don't know if you've had the chance to check out the housing section, but there is some really awesome information, on building second levels, and DIY rockwalls.
I have a rockwall in two of my 10gallon tanks. and both of the leo love'em! just an idea :)

Take Care, Amber
