So I dont know anything about snakes I was wondering if somone could identify this for me. It was in our driveway kind of rolled up I think it was cold. The only two I could guess would be a eastern milk snake or a copperhead.

Yeah I think it's either an Eastern Milk or maybe a Mole King. Here's a link with some photos that might help.

Eat that cinnamon bun or bear claw and get that snake in a nice enclosure! :D I'm pretty sure it's not a Copperhead, but you should probably make 100% sure of that before handling if there's any doubt. I'm about 99% sure that's a king or milk though. Nice find!

Could be a corn snake, too. Definately not a copperhead from what I can see. Copperheads have triangular heads, non-venemous snakes don't... easy quick way to tell. :)

Lol well I think its a bear claw and I certainly will eat it :main_laugh:. I did read that about the snakes having triangler heads and he definetly does not have a triangle. I dont plan on keeping him. My dad caught it and he wanted to know if my fiance wanted it. She said no basically because it was wild caught and didnt want it to die on her if it had parasites or something. So we are going to set it lose in our barn he will have plenty of mice for him to eat out there where he shoud happy. :main_thumbsup: Thanks for the help as well.

Man, nice find! It's either a corn snake that someone set loose in the wild, or some species of rat snake. Technically, corns are rat snakes too. If you put it in a box where I could get a decent look at it, I could probably positively ID it. If I knew where in IN you were, I'd offer to take it off your hands. :main_yes:

deffinately not a corn snake. I agree with Lytle snake. Eastern milk or mole king.. if it has a checkered belly its an eastern. can you post a head shot and belly shot?

Some pictures I've been able to find indicate it may very well be an Eastern Milksnake. If so, very cool! They're quite common in IN.

I had a feeling that what is was. I might be able to get a pic of its head but to describe it. The head is the same size as its body and the pattern continues up the head. Now I am having a problem even though I am not a snake person its hard to let him go. So i could really use your opinions on what you think I should do with him?

Well, you could put it in a 10-15 gal tank with 3-4" of aspen bedding and a UTH/thermostat, give it a water dish and a mouse. Or let it go in the barn. Or give it to the other poster who expressed interest in it. It is a very pretty snake!

If it does have parasites, it's gonna need some belly heat pretty soon to stay healthy.

Hey guys,
I see that this thread is old, but I thought I'd answer anyways. It is an eastern milk snake, Lampropeltis triangulum triangulum. There is a small chance that it is one of the subspecies (such as a central plains milk). I live in FL, so I am not too familiar with all the subspecies in the midwest.
