What makes a "Giant/Super Giant"

I have a Tremper Albino Giant, he was sold to me as such but there are Leo's with no "giant genetics" that will likely grow larger then him, or at least around the same size.
-So, why aren't Leo's who pass a certain weight and length classed as giants?
They all had to start somewhere and no one would ever guess they weren't "giant"
I'm confused.

Main difference between a really large gecko, and a giant/super giant, is that giant/super giants have the giant genes to pass down to the offspring. Where as a really large gecko does not. That's the main difference between calling it a large gecko vs a giant gecko. These days, it's not hard to find large geckos that are not genetic giants. The stuff we have available to feed our geckos these days, including supplements, are really packing on the growth & weight of our geckos.

As for how you know you have a genetic giant/super giant, the most important thing is knowing where he came from and his lineage. Getting them from reputable breeders will ensure you the gecko was produced from genetic giant parents. Visually, it's hard to tell a fully grown large gecko vs a fully grown genetic giant. But at around 5-6 months your genetic giant should look larger, longer, body structure stockier, etc.. than normal geckos at that age.

Genetic super giants are a whole other story. If you can get your hands on a good specimen, a grade A+ super giant is in a class of its own. They are truly large, long, and easily weigh a ton without being overfed and overweight. Good super giants aren't that easy to find. Like I have a 160g sg breeder male in my collection that's long, stocky, and not overweight. His tail is proportional to his body, he's just a really large gecko.

Thanks for the response. :)
Ok, so it's is less likely that a large gecko would pass on his large genes, and more likely that a Giant would pass on his giant genes? Am I correct?
