i keep the geckos in the basement , so what you are telling me is that they should be in the dark al the time and they should be freezing , at like 55 degrees all day with a hot floor

I have a 75 watt Infrared night-time bulb and a zoo med UTH on my 65 gal tank. the hottest place in my tank is 91, then the warm side is about 85-90, the cool side is 77-84.
One bulb and one UTH (not over the same spot though!) I truly think Leos need a little more than belly heat, very cold air temps and a very warm floor seems like a good way to encourage sickness. I have no heater (for me) in my room, and it gets to around 60 or below at night, the coldest it gets in my Leo's tank is 77!

my bad, no need to get upset I didnt know! I thought you were just asking for heat. I do have a 75 watt infared bulb on at night and a 100 watt basking bulb on during the day because mine gecko is also in the basement. But that is only to warm the air and will go off in the summer. Sorry if I offended you I just misunderstood

just thought it would be cruel to leave them in the dark all their life , i know i wouldn't want to left in the dark! i use the basking light because it is really cold in the basement but my real concern is how do they know when it is day or night if you have no basking light and no naturallight ( like from a window or something)

it would be cruel to leave them in the dark, but you didnt say they were in the basement in the first post so I assumed they got natural light. As far as the day time night time thing with no basking bulb idk. That is why mine has a basking in the day and infared at night. She knows that when the red light comes on it is night. I generally turn it on at the same time every night but if for some reason I cant then she still doesnt come out. I know its not cause the basking bulb hurts her eyes because she does come out for water sometimes and is just fine sometimes she sleeps in the light to but thats rare.
