What sort of records do you keep?

So, only my 2nd breeding season, but have been keeping records like crazy...
-Hatchling records (sire/dam/date of egg laid/hatched/weight when hatched/gender/sold to/sold for price)
-Records of those I've sold to (email/phone number/name/which gecko they bought/how they heard of me)
-Any vet records (though *knock on wood*, I've only had one that required vet care a year ago)
-Weight records of all geckos

What kind of records do you usually keep with your gecko(s)?

I keep very close weight records, and if/when my girl lays eggs I will be OCD about the records of eggs and hatchlings, and every minute detail that is even slightly related to them, just to keep my peace of mind!

i forgot the name of it ill check when I get home. It's on my desktop but I'll send you a PM and let you know. I believe it's free now as well....as for being better than excel, I wouldn't consider it better...its different and really simple....just strait columns to label stuff and add info. Although I'm not very familiar with excel.

I use a good old fashion label maker from wally world. I keep all the genetics on the windows of their cages along with their names. I stopped worrying about weight and just make sure they are all eating and look healthy. I always supplied buyers with a hatch certificate and will do so this year. I thought it added something extra when I bought from Phillip and Christine (GKO), especially when I would spend $200 on one gecko.

Personally I would say that you should keep all the records your time will permit. It never hurts to be over-prepared. Also remember to keep cost and sale records meticulously so you don't run into any tax problems.

Yup, I've done hatching certificates primarily for geckos going to families with kids. One went to a friend that got one of my geckos, as well lol. She loved it and actually has it framed next to the gecko's cage. And great point on the cost/sales. I keep record of sales and gecko purchases, but think I'll start keeping track of other purchases, as well.
