what tests needed at vet to make studding safe?

Hi there,

someone is going to stud me a male for one of my females and i want to make sure its all safe, what do i need to get my vet to test for? is a simple fecal enough or so i need any other tests?

I think it really boils down to how much risk you're willing to take. It's hard to give definitive advice without seeing the animals, knowing what condition they're in, seeing how they're set up and maintained, etc.

I would suggest a 30 day quarantine accompanied by a fecal test for internal parasites and go from there. However, the above factors could significantly impact how I'd go about it.

well we have both had our animals for over 30 days (iv had mine for nearly a year and she was a full grown adult when i got her). mine are kept on paper towel which is changed twice a week, she has a humid hide, and 2 dry hides, one on the cool side, one on the warm side. heat mat kept at 90F on a thermostat, has access to mealworms at all times, a water bowl and a calcium bowl, she seems very healthy to me.
