Hey Folks Im new here and am just looking for some opinions on what to breed my bell hybino to. I have at present a male super giant (Tremper) and a male reverse stripe Het Raptor. What would be the best male to breed to her with and what could the possible outcome of the hatchlings be.. Can you breed a Tremper to a bell? What percentage of bells to tremper would you get?

Cheers

if you breed two strain of albino together then you will get nothing but normals but they will be double het for both strains

I wouldn't breed two albino strains together, it just confuses things down the road when the offspring start breeding. I know I would not knowingly purchase a dh bell/tremper.

I still have a doubt. Has anybody tried to get a double homozygous albino of two different strains? I wouldn't buy it either, because it's like Felicia said, the results would cause confusion, but I'm curious about if it is possible and what would it look like.

If the two strains affect alleles from different locuses, in theory, it should be possible, shouldn't it?

I thought I had heard before that Jodi Aherns had produced a double homozygous Rainwater/Tremper. I know he did have some double hets long ago. Maybe next time he is on he will see this and respond. If he did I would love to see a picture.

Thanks guys. :main_thumbsup: I did remember reading somewhere that two strains of albino bred together could possibly give you a Homozygous Bell/Tremper But im slowly going of that Idea now. I have a male SHTC, I take it he would be the only compatable male to bred with her to produce more hybino's or bells.. or what about a Blizzard male?

Cheers ;)

Yes I believe you are correct that Jodi Aherns did produce one and proved it out too. I actually brought the subject up of a double homo last year some time, he no longer has the leo I believe and couldn't find any pics, but those who saw it said it was a little different looking.

I believe that they are on different loci because breeding one to another would produce normal looking double hets. If they shared the loci then the first generation would be similar to the "Ultramel" corn snake morph. In that morph two different amel genes share the same loci and when bred togeather both genes are expressed because there is no dominant gene to block either of them. They are both recessive so they both show their traits.

Im suprised RT hasnt done it yet... Any extras (double hets, possible hets, etc) would just be sold to pet stores by his C.R.A.P. operation. And Ive heard (but cant remember where) that the bells breed both trempers and bells and dont seperate them when they are selling them at shows, they just label them as "albino."
