Are superworms ok for a full time diet on a leo? The stupid retarded teenagers who know nothing at the petshop got me a bin of these and said they were mealworms so when i got home and saw them i knew somthing didnt look right.
Thats what I feed my guy!! Ive read some of the nutritional facts on them and they seem well enough. Obviously put the powder on them and gut feed em. But He likes em fine.
supers should be fine for a staple. to breed them you have to seperate each worm into a film container and let them pupate and turn into beetles then put the beetles somwhere seperate.
took me about 2 weeks to see some eggs and another 1-2 weeks to see some VERY small babies. I've had my super beetle for almost 2 months now and I see alot of very small babies on the carrot, the biggest superworm hatclhling I see right now is 1/4 of an inch I'd say and the 2 months is going from worm > beetle > egg > tiny worms
how big are the ones in the picture? the ones at the petstore here were monstrous, i was afraid they would eat my gecko they were so big. ok that might be a slight exaggeration but they were about as big around as a pencil.
Here's a great caresheet for breeding superworms. It's pretty easy. Just remember to keep them in seperate containers while getting them to change into beetles or they will eat each other. :main_lipsrsealed: http://southfloridadragons.com/forum/index.php?page=8
It takes about 2 weeks for them to become pupae and another 2 weeks to become beetles depending on your temperatures. Once you have beetles they will start laying within a few days. Unlike mealworms if you look closely you can actually see patches of eggs and within a few more weeks baby worms.
