Someone can correct me if they think otherwise, but she certainly doesn't look like a super hypo snow. There have been hypo snows, but I have yet to see a super hypo snow. Not to say they don't exist, but I have not personally seen one, and she looks like a normal snow to me.

Anyway, that aside, if that is all of the genetic components to these animals, then you would get a 1:2:1 ratio of offspring (super snow: snow: normal). But if they are heterozygous carriers for any other traits, it becomes a bit more messy, especially since you don't know whether they do or not.

As a simple punnett square for that crossing, male on top, female on side:

Where S is Snow, and s is non-snow.

Every loci (region in the DNA that encodes for a gene) has two copies. Both of your animals are snows, so they have one copy of the snow allele (therefore are denoted Ss.) When they are paired they will pass down one of their alleles, so either S or s. Since both animals can contribute either an S or s, you can calculate the odds of the offspring by lining it up as shown in the punnett square above. For a quick guide to punnett squares, you can check out Matt's (Sasobeks world of reptiles) video on youtube. I will put the links below. (Keep in mind when watching the videos that snow is not recessive, but is co-dominant/incomplete dominant. Meaning you don't need two copies of the allele to have a visually snow animal, but two copies of the snow allele instead gives you supersnows)

A simple recessive made using a punnett square:

Genetics 200: Breaking down a multigenic cross:

I strongly suggest watching those, as well as looking up some basic genetics info prior to pairing animals, so you can get a better idea of what is going on when you pair, as well as a better idea about inheritance of traits.

If you have other basic genetics questions after watching the videos and studying around a bit, feel free to shoot me a PM or email ([email protected])

as im not 100 on what mine are , is there a way of finding out ?

Sadly, not without extensive test breeding (which would leave you with countless babies of all sorts that would all be pet only, as well as a few years worth of time). Or by getting ahold of the breeder that sold them to you and keep your fingers crosses that they keep stellar records.

Just had a look on my mobile and I have the breeders numbers still for the younger 2 so I'll be texting or calling tomorrow to ask

Good! Unfortunately, without that information, it is nearly impossible to tell you what you will get. For example; lets look at your pairing of the (what i assume to be) Normal x SHTCT- they are visually super hypo and normal, so theoretically would create hypo offspring. *BUUUUUTTTTTT* you don't know what hets they carry, so one could be het, tremper for example, while the other may be het bell. Breeding them could create a bunch of offspring that are a genetic mystery. If you can get the info from the breeders you bought them from then great! But if not, I would personally keep them as pet only. And there is nothing wrong with pet onlys, I have a few myself. They were my first few geckos, and so they're here for the long haul.
