What would you do if power went out?

A lot of people in my area lose power during snowstorms. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I feel like I should have some kind of plan for how to keep my gecko warm if I lost power.

I guess I would move him to a neighbor's house as soon as possible? If it was a really bad blizzard, I'm not sure if that would be possible, though.

Some people I know lost power for 3 days during last winter's blizzard. I worry about what would happen to my little guy if that ever happened. Any tips?

My dad has a big generator on hand for power outages, so whenever get have the power out, he is able to hook that up and my reptiles (and fish) are fine.

Id would order some heat packs, they will work for I think up to 12 hours, LLLreptile has some for 10 dollars for a 10 pack, they are commonly used when shipping reptiles. I have a back power battery that I would use.

Heat packs are generaly the cheaper option. They sell them down at my local reptile store. Just £2 ($3.00) for a pack of 3. They normaly use them in transportation of live exotic animals. 1 should last 10 hours. (although they say 12)

If the power went out at my place for any duration, I'd put my geckos down in my basement, the temp there is pretty constant between 66-68 all year round with or without heat or air. My snake would go into a pillowcase and snuggle with me. But the heat packs sound like a really good option also.

We have a battery backup for the incubators in case there is a short term power outage. For the living animals a couple hours withough their heat cable isn't going to hurt them. It is always good to have some extra heat packs for longer term outages for the living ones. I don't know if heat packs would work well for an incubator. Perhaps somebody else has experience with that situation.

gecko's can survive without heat for quite a long time. A couple hours wouldnt hurt them, a day or two would probably just make them stressed.
