What's the difference?

each tangerine line has different genetic make up. With a trained eye you can usually tell one line from another. The only way to produce a tornado would be to breed tornadoes together, none of the hypo tangs are combination morphs...

This is my take on this, there really is not much different between them and its mainly just a marketing thing. There still all shtct/b and bascially all came from the same line/original tangerines just inbred from different relatives for many generations IMO

I know this will open up a can of worms so i know theres gonna be all this arguing etc. Post pics of tangerine torondos, blood hypo, and your best shtct's in the same lighting using the same camera

while there is quite a bit of common lineage in many of the tangs, the well known tang lines differ a great deal in my opinion. If one compares a lighter phase tornado to a pure blood hypo they will see two beautiful examples of hypo leopard geckos that are very clearly different. This is why breeders come up with a different name; many breeders who sell a particular "line" or 'type" of hypo will also have lower priced geckos for sell labeled as shtct that are not related to the breeders higher bloodlines. I do agree that some of the names are a marketing thing and dont constitute a new line or morph(lets just say im viewing this page with Mozilla. Cough Cough), most of the individual lines deserve recognition as their own unique blood line...

My take on it is, if you've put years and years of work into getting the desired look of a Tangerine/Jungle/Etc and choose to market "Your" line as such. The Community itself will decide whether or not the name sticks.

Ditto both comments.

That depends on the gecko's origin. :main_yes:

so the leo must come from TUG to be called a "tornado":main_thumbsup: and not on the features of a leo, i've seen lots of pix from the net about tang tornado, and some of the leos coloration are not so intensed (orange-red) like the one posted on TUG site, but they are "tag" as Tangerine Tornado;)

TUG also has a professional photo set up which most if not all hobbyists do not have access to.

I think you're not paying the originator the proper respect, if either Dam or Sire isn't from their line. As a matter of fact, the originator may find it a bit disrespectful. In my mind, they have every right.

I mean if you're going to use tags like "Hot Gecko", or "Electric", or "Tang Tornado", it really should contain those bloodlines. :main_yes: At least that's my viewpoint.

typo error bro, sorry for the misunderstanding, i've nothing against TUG, infact all their collections are really awesome, and the real reason why i bought this leo is because i've seen their tang tornado, it's just my leo isn't as beautiful as Tug's tornado...;)

To put it bluntly and to clear all confusion, they are ALL simply Tangerines. The different names are given by breeders partly to differentiate their line and years of hard work from others and partly for marketing purposes.

I like Okee Reps response. Simple and straight to the point. That really clear things up for me. (Not being sarcastic).
